The Mazda 3 series has been dominating the market of compact cars since a decade. With every update, Mazda has built up this model series into one of the most desirable cars, catering to a vast number of car buyers with its interesting and value packed features offered through its dynamic lineup. This year, when the Mazda 3 series entered the 2020 edition, things got even better, as the automaker decided to be more generous with the features to be set as standard. That being said, we can equate that all these standard features will be there in the base model. This way, the 2020 Mazda 3 lineup takes a more lenient approach towards offering the most useful features without asking any extra cost from the buyers to avail them.

As learned from the Mazda Corona dealership experts, Mazda is offering its full suite of i-Activsense driver-assist features as standard equipment for the 2020 lineup that will equip all its trims with these features to ensure better ride safety.

2020 Lineup Summary

The 2020 lineup of the Mazda 3 series is still divided into sedan and hatchback categories, sharing the same engine choice, which a 2.5-liter inline-four engine paired either with a six-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual counterpart, that together can make 186 units of horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.

Standard Safety Features on the Base Trim

This is the fourth-generation that the Mazda 3 is receiving some small changes and its participation on the market the second time. Now that the series has been released as the 2020 version, Mazda is has boosted up its lineup by enabling its in-house i-Activsense driver-assist features on all sedan models that were previously seen as standard only on the higher trim levels of the sedan variety and on all hatchback models.

The current year 2020 Mazda 3 lineup now secures even the base sedan models with safety features like automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist.

Powertrain Configuration for the Base Model

As said earlier, the 2020 model year edition of the Mazda 3 series shares the same powertrain configuration for the entire lineup. It is a 2.5-liter inline-four engine that is ideally mated either a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission, among which the latter is offered only on the  Premium hatchback trim. The engine power is relayed either to the front wheels, which is the standard configuration while enabling the all-wheel drive is offered only as an upgrading option. Though rumors are spreading that Mazda is going to introduce its own compression-ignition-capable Skyactiv-X engine late this year for the U.S market, the brand hasn’t announced anything on the same so far.

However, from the Concesionario Corona Mazda we got to know that Mazda has claimed to have changed the wheel finish on the Premium trim level, but as we are focusing our discussion only on the base trim, we aren’t covering anything that isn’t included in the base model.
