Dodge Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel

Most of the trucks are great for hauling, but when you are towing a big trailer, Dodge Ram 2500 is one of the best for the job at a reasonable price. It has an eight-foot bed and goes on all four wheels. The price is under 15 thousand dollars, and for a vehicle that strong, the price isn’t much.

The 555 lb-ft of torque and 305 horsepower with a six-cylinder turbo diesel is enough for every terrain. Something that impresses owners is its longevity and something that isn’t usual for vehicles big like this, fuel efficiency. It maybe lacks the design, but overall performance is great.

Ford F 150 King Ranch

After the WW2, the truck that was sold the most was Ford F-Series. The number of sold trucks goes over 35 million. F-Series have some great options, but one that stands out is F 150 King Ranch with a four-wheel-drive and 5-foot bed. It has 365 lb-ft of torque and 300 horsepower. With a 5.4 liter V8 engine it is able to carry anything you put in the back. The problem is that it uses 16 mpg on the highway and 12 miles per gallon in the city. They have put a lot of effort into the design, so it looks great in every aspect.

Ford Ranger FX4

The thing about this car is that it’s out of production. You are only able to find it used and with a price under 20 thousand, it is a great investment. There are a lot of them in a great condition you can find online. Professionals recommend getting the model from 2009 that has a 4-liter V6 engine with a four-wheel drive. It also has a 6-foot bed and five-speed manual transmission.

The engine has 238 lb-ft of torque and 207 horsepower. Even if the engine is weaker than others mentioned, it will go 19 miles per gallon on the highway and 15 mpg in the city. The latest models are from 2012. Click here to read more.

Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab

We have not new midsize Chevrolet Colorado that has turbo diesel engine and what we call a full package, but the previous generation with five or four-cylinder gas-powered engine was typical truck anyone can afford. It gets a job which is the most important thing, but it can’t do massive work. The 2009 version has a five-foot bed and four speeds with a 5.3-liter V8 engine.

It has a reasonable 300 horsepower with 320 lb-ft torque. Still, it is stronger than Ford Ranger. It does 19 miles per gallon on the highway and 14 mpg in the city. It’s lifted a little bit more than most of the truck which is useful in many situations.

Dodge Ram 1500

The strongest of all trucks mentioned is for sure Dodge Ram 1500 which also doesn’t go over 15 thousand dollars. It has an amazing 407 lb-ft of torque with 390 horsepower. The engine is 5.7-liter HEMI V8. On the highway, it does 18 mpg and in the city 13 miles per gallon.

Because the car has a HEMI you don’t have to worry about over 6-foot bed not handling a stack of plywood sheets with the opened tailgate with a five-speed transmission. It won’t even pass 20 mpg in overdrive. When you hear the sound of it, you will immediately want to buy it. Besides the sound and efficiency, it looks great.
